Job Description

SUMMARYProvide security for indoor, national entertainment events.  Responsible for a high level of guest service as described in your departments guest service standards. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide guests with proactive visibility that will enhance their entertainment experience and give guests directions
  • Provide general security to include venue patrols, backstage entry control, watch for and address issues related to alcohol consumption
  • Watch for and address breaches of security, crowd management issues, persons in unauthorized areas and safety hazards
  • Provide efficient screening of guests entering the venue for prohibited items using bag checks while utilizing walk-through metal detectors and wand devices
  • Provide escorts and security for entertainers, their facilities and cordoned areas
  • Respond to incidents of medical emergencies, fire, bomb threats, active shooter, severe weather and disorderly conduct

KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge and Certification

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED

Preferred:

  • 1-year experience and/or training in law enforcement, security, military or related field
  • Prior event security work or equivalent experience

Skills

Required:

  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Accurate and detail-oriented
  • Highly organized and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities

Abilities

Required:

  • Ability to interact with entertainers, event staff, guests, coworkers and management in a professional manner
  • Ability to effectively deal with intoxicated and disorderly persons in a professional manner
  • Ability to follow established dress code policies and practice good personal hygiene
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions

REQUIRED TRAINING

  • Treasure Island guest service training
  • TIPS training and certification
  • CPR/First Aid training
  • Additional on-the-job training will be provided
  • Any position-related training as determined by department manager

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to sit, walk or stand and exert fast-paced mobility
  • Must be able to perform security, first aid, safety and control verification functions including the physical force required to control suspects and protect physical assets
  • Must have a good sense of balance, and be able to bend, kneel and stoop
  • Must be able to reach and twist routinely
  • Must be able to push, pull and grasp objects routinely
  • Must infrequently be able to climb
  • Must have the ability to independently lift up to 25+ pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions
  • Must have good eye hand coordination

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is performed inside the event center and surrounding exterior areas and may include flashing lights, frequent loud noises, cigarette smoke and extreme weather conditions
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including long hours, weekends and holidays
  • Must deal with angry or hostile individuals
  • High volume direct public contact
