| Attendees of the Great River Guitar Show will pick up a program that has maps and schedules of the exhibit and logos and descriptions of all exhibitors. They can browse the three exhibit spaces filled with amazing stringed instruments and accessories and can talk to their makers, and purchase instruments at the show. They can also listen to the 23 performances that will take place during the exhibit hours and purchase CDs of our performers. They can learn about new products in our seminars and take free literature in the hall between the instrument rooms. They can participate in open acoustic jams, watch free movies, “Acoustic Uprising” by Drew Roller and “Don’t get Trouble in Your Mind” by John Whitehead, they could win accessories from D’Addario, take a tour of the lutherie school facilities, and they can have lunch on site from the food trucks. For an additional fee they can take a music lesson from one of our talented presenters. On Saturday evening at the historic Sheldon Theatre is a concert by Pat Donohue, Tim Sparks and Dean Magraw. Tickets for that show will be $22. On Sunday afternoon there will be a free outdoor concert at the Harbor Bar just across the river with Annie Mack performing with her band. Annie has been getting attention lately with her recording “Closer”. |

Downtown Main Street Presents “Positioning Downtown to be Development Ready”—September 19—9AM-1PM—Red Wing Ignite
This seminar is hosted by Rethos Main Streets, formerly Preservation Alliance of Minnesota, and Red Wing Downtown Main Street. Information will be presented by Michael Wagler, Main Street Iowa Coordinator, and Jim Thompson, the Downtown Economic Development Specialist, both at the Iowa Economic Development Authority, this workshop will explore useful downtown development policies to support real estate development. Making use of every inch of a downtown building helps both property owners with cash flow and downtown residents bring activity, life, and customers to downtown. Because many downtowns have so many underutilized and/or vacant buildings, there is great deal of opportunities for this activity. Public/private partnerships can make a positive difference for communities trying to encourage this development or redevelopment, particularly in their downtowns. But sometimes apathy, lack of readiness, misinformation, and shortage of knowledge of the available development tools prevent development. In this fast-paced presentation, participants will learn about tested tools and strategies that can be used to help communities with downtown economic development and downtown housing development.
