Klobuchar’s staff will join with local business and education leaders across Southern Minnesota to discuss local initiatives to help bridge the skills gap and highlight Klobuchar-backed legislation and funding to strengthen Minnesota’s workforce. In 2015, Klobuchar successfully pushed for a $5 million grant from the Department of Labor to strengthen partnerships between Minnesota community colleges and local businesses; Earlier this year, Klobuchar introduced her bipartisan American Apprenticeship Act, which would create and expand tuition assistance programs for participants in apprenticeship programs. The City Staff is holding the first of several meetings to discuss the status of plans for the Old West Main Street neighborhood. Since the completion of the “Renewing Old West Main: A Master Plan” in 2015, the City has been developing strategies and funding support to address off-street parking, pedestrian and bicycling connections to the riverfront, and other actions listed in the plan. We would like to provide an update and discuss next steps. The focus of this meeting is on the section of Old West Main Street between Highway 61 and Buchanan Streets on the east end of the neighborhood, however, all are welcome to attend. Representatives of various departments will be available at this meeting. This meeting will take place at Pier 55, 240 Harrison Street, on June 14 from 9-10AM. Part singer songwriter group, part rock band you can find REINA DEL CID and company at the intersection of lyrical storytelling, catchy riffs, and scorching solos.
After building a devoted online following as a solo artist, Del Cid teamed up with talented musicians Toni Lindgren, Zach Schmidt, and Andrew Foreman to develop a sophisticated sound with broad appeal, drawing in mixed crowds from jamheads to college students to white haired intelligentsia.
Reina del Cid and her band cut their teeth in 2013 with a weekly residency at the Amsterdam Bar and Hall in downtown St. Paul, which they held for nearly two years before moving on to tour nationally and release their 2015 album, The Cooling. In January, Del Cid released a music video for the song “Death Cap,” filmed in Iceland and directed by the band’s longtime creative collaborator, Jason Ho. Their music has recently been featured by Paste Magazine, NPR, and Baeble Music, and they plan to release their next full-length record in 2017.

Dedication of "Spectacles" Sculpture at Colvill Park. This is a 10x10 by 4 foot sculpture designed with help from local artist Dan Wiemer and fabricated by Neufeldt Industrial of Red Wing. This is in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of Lions Club. Following a short program, a parachute will be lifted and the new sculpture will be unveiled. Entertainment and food are also planned for the occasion

June 25—The Red Wing Lions Club will be presenting a public sculpture celebrating the 100 year legacy of Lions Clubs International at Colvill Park near the Universal Playground. Activities include: Community Picnic from 11AM-5PM, Dedication Program: 1:30PM, and entertainment by The Keynotes. Donate used eyeglasses and enter a drawing for prizes donated by Pearle Vision and Midwest Vision Center.
