Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing is excited to announce they have a new MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine. Join the Chamber Staff and Ambassadors May 1 at 1PM for a Ribbon Cutting ceremony. The ceremony will take place in the Radiology Department, on second floor, beginning at 1PM, followed by refreshments in the first floor Garden View Café. The new GE 1.5 Tesla scanner will allow imaging of bariatric patients and will offer scans of smaller extremities such as wrists and fingers. The newer technology also will help standardize imaging quality and safety procedures with Mayo Clinic in Rochester and throughout Southeast Minnesota. MN/WI Bridge Public Open House—May 3—4:30PM—6:30PM, Program at 5:30PM—Public Library
This is your chance to learn more about the new bridge being built between MN and WI. This public Open House will focus on the construction schedule and its effects. The Open House is from 4:30PM to 6:30PM, at the Foot Room (lower level) of the Public Library (225 East Avenue), with a presentation scheduled at 5:30PM. During the Open House people are encouraged to talk with engineers and other project members from MnDOT, WisDOT and the City of Red Wing to ask questions, address concerns and learn more about the project.
The new Red Wing Mississippi River bridge will replace the Highway 63/Eisenhower Bridge, a vital connection between Minnesota and Wisconsin. Construction is scheduled to begin on May 5 and the overall project will be completed by August 2020. The project is a cooperative effort between MnDOT, WisDOT, and the City of Red Wing. The project also includes the replacement of the historic Highway 63 Bridge over Highway 61 and reconstruction of the approach roadways in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Highway 63 and the Eisenhower Bridge will remain open during construction. The new bridge will improve connections to Highway 61 and Highway 58 in Minnesota, provide better access in and out of Red Wing’s historic downtown district, and improved pedestrian and bicyclist crossings. May is National Health Awareness Month, so our next HYPE (Helping Young Professionals Emerge) event will focus on improving your health, especially for young professionals with busy lifestyles. Dr. Ryan Lystad from Innovative Chiropractic Center will give tips on things you can do now when you’re young, that will help keep you healthy for years to come. Dr. Ryan will focus on ways to improve your mobility and strength, easy things you can do to improve your overall health, and exercises you can do at work or home, a few minutes a day that will improve your body’s function. Wear comfortable clothes and be ready to move around and learn more ways to be good to your body! But don’t worry about your mobility level…exercises can be easily modified to fit your health level. The meeting will start with some quick networking and then it’s time to get moving!
