DESCRIPTION:Join your neighbors\, MN Children's Defense Fund and community experts for this Community Forum at First Lutheran Church\, 615 W. 5th Street\, September 19\, 6:30-8:30PM. This forum is the beginning of a community wide conversation to engage a diverse set of players\, including citizens\, business owners\, financial institutions\, community organizations and local government\, in a community conversation about increasing opportunities and reducing poverty for all who call Red Wing home. The first panel will include representatives from the schools\, CARE Clinic\, HRA\, Workforce\, Food Shelf\, Seniors\, Youth and a policy specialist from MN Children's Defense Fund. Discussion will focus on the effects of poverty on children and families and will identify the face of poverty in Red Wing\; the safety nets to support families\; the challenges for economic stability\; and identify strategies to promote bridges out of poverty.
