The Prairie Island Indian Community, a federally recognized Mdewakanton Dakota Tribe, developed this elder assisted living lodge designed to serve members of the tribal community, as well as the City of Welch and the surrounding community at large. This new Senior Living Community Addresses Unique Cultural and Health Needs of Native American Elders. Ten of the twenty apartments at Tinta Wita Tipi are open to people from the community (non Native Americans).
